Island Proposal: Charla & Chris

12 May Island Proposal: Charla & Chris

We are so excited to congratulate Charla Greene, [one of our favorite fellow bloggers of The Greene Vademecum] and her fiancé Chris on their recent engagement!  Chris popped the big question on December 3, 2014 when they were vacationing in Puerto Rico! He did good didn’t he ladies? Check out their story:

My fiance and I recently took some time off and traveled to Puerto Rico. The trip was a wonderful experience. We flew out on a Saturday morning and returned on a Friday. It gave us both an opportunity to get away for a few days and clear our heads. Such a beautiful escape! We were traveling with our friends who were both born and raised on the island. They are a lovely couple who have become like family to us. During our trip, we were able to explore various parts of the island, visit our families and friends, and try tons and TONS of food.

I was told to be prepared to attend a lunch celebrating their one year anniversary. The restaurant was literally located on the beach. They had a bunch of tables in the sand and canopy beds. The scenery was gorgeous and the weather was perfect. My friend began to instruct us to take pictures, which wasn’t out of the ordinary. We took tons of pictures the entire week because we were on vacation, duh!

Well after the third or fourth picture Chris said, “I love you.” I respond, “I love you too.” He says, “No, I really love you.” I respond, “I love you too,” and make a face like, “Stop being weird.” If you know me well, you know that I make faces. It’s uncontrollable and inevitable. I have tried to master hiding them but I just can’t. Anywho, I will stop squirreling.

After I respond again for the second time, Chris begins his speech, and I am so caught off guard that I blank out. I don’t remember the spill and neither does he. To sum up my overall reaction as a whole I would have to say… first I was confused. Then I felt awkward (I don’t like to be the center of attention or for people to stare at me, and both were happening at the same time). Then I was shocked, then I cried, then I remained ecstatic and shocked for the remainder of the day.

I can honestly say I was TRULY surprised and speechless that he proposed. In my eyes, it was the perfect proposal and I cannot think of anything that could top my experience. I don’t feel I am being biased. It was PERFECT. I didn’t have a clue and he spent months and MONTHS planning this just for me.

The experience made me love him more because he loves me enough to go above and beyond. For the rest of my life when I think of or share the story of my proposal, I can reflect on this beautiful once in a lifetime experience. My Happily Ever After…Only The Beginning!

Again, congratulations Charla on your special moment! We wish you the best in your wedding planning and future marriage!
