My name is Tiwa Lawrence and I consider myself to be “The Bride’s Makeup Artist.” My brides hire me to create the precise bridal makeup look they have envisioned their entire lives. With ten years of experience in the wedding industry, I can tell you these beauty products and tips I am about to share, have assisted me over and over again with creating effortlessly flawless and long wearing makeup looks for countless of my wonderful brides. Without further ado, I would love to share key products and tips that will help the discerning bride create a polished and longwearing bridal makeup look. Also included below, are the reasons why The Bridenista cannot do without these items for your special day:

1.Primers: For long wearing makeup, primers are necessary. Eye primers, facial skin primers, and lip primers are key. The bridenista can never over prep when ensuring that their makeup stays put until the end of the night. My favorite eye primer is called the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden. I love the finish of the primer and the opaque coverage which truly makes your eyeshadow of choice, show up true to its original color.Screen Shot 2015-10-04 at 8.40.41 PMFor skin primers, you can’t go wrong with BECCA Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector, if you have oily skin.

For normal to dry skin, Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Face Primer is another winner to guarantee your makeup lasts all day.

BenefitFor the lips, MAC Prep + Prime Lip is great at preventing feathering of your lip products, therefore helping to prolong the wear of the lip products you apply.  With this fabulous primer, there are no excuses for the bride not to kiss her new husband as many times as wanted.

2.Waterproof Mascara: I don’t believe you need waterproof mascara for daily use (due to the buildup on our natural eyelashes), but for an unpredictable day, filled with lots of heighten emotions, the bride needs to make sure to protect her eye makeup through the happy tears. The Falsies Waterproof Mascara is one waterproof mascara I have been using lately. I find it does not irritate the eye. Now, off to the next step…Lashes!!!

3. Lashes: I cannot imagine a bridal look without faux lashes. Faux lashes are the perfect statement to finish all bridal eye looks. They open up the eyes and give a more intense look to the eye, especially since there will be periods of time when the bride, will be at a particular distance from wedding guests. The bride can opt for full strip lashes like my favorite, the Demi Wispies or for the more subtle bride,  she can choose to add on a few individual lashes and customized your lash look to add to a natural romantic look.

4. Longwearing Foundation: The bride will not have any regrets, when opting for an incredibly longwearing foundation. A foundation such as MAC Pro Longwear Foundation or Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation are best for weddings. My preference is liquid foundation, as this type of formulation tends to wear longer and blend-in flawlessly into the skin without transferring, like some cream foundations.

5. Small Touch-up kit: Last but not least, since the bride has invested in the items I shared above, she should only need a small touch-up kit to keep her makeup looking fresh all night long. The kit should include, a lipstick or lip product of choice, some blotting sheets and/or blot powder. The MAC Blot Powder has a very sheer finish with a mirror, so it makes for a great way to do quick check-ups and touch-ups.

And for a Wild-Card, a few months before I got married (several years ago), I read this tip in a magazine and I fell in love with the idea. Pick a fragrance you love and wear it for the first time on your wedding day. That scent will always be linked to the memories of your special day. Whenever you smell the fragrance in the future, memories of the most special day of your life will flood your heart. Marc Jacobs Fragrance Daisy Dream has a lovely and feminine scent that would fit perfectly with the flawless makeup look you created.
